This poster, illustrating worldwide use of the Tor anonymity network, was created with Adobe Illustrator. The design uses spatial data compiled in ArcGIS for Desktop 10.6. Statistical data used in the creation of this map was obtained from the Tor Project's dynamically-updating Tor Metrics files and the International Telecommunications Union statistics database. These large spreadsheet files were processed using a Python script to efficiently compute normalized mean figures to represent the data in an accurate and meaningful way.
The Dymaxion projection was chosen to illustrate the global breadth of the topic in an aesthetically interesting way. This poster ranked 4th place for research out of over 40 entries in the 2018 NACIS Student Map and Poster Competition.
